03D/02N - Experience Ky Son Village Moon Garden Homestay
Day 01: Ha Long (Or Sapa, Ninh Binh, Mai Chau. Mu Cang Chai) – Ky Son
You will arrive in the afternoon with an optional welcome drink of tea brewed with tisane to invite you into the Ky Son Village. Afterwards, you can explore the Moon Garden Homestay and Ky Son Village at your own leisure. While waiting for your steam bath to be prepared, enjoy our local drink and taste some of the local products such as maize, sweet potato, cassava, peanuts depending on season. The refreshing steam bath has fragrant herbs (lemon grass, pomelo leaves, holy basil leaves) that emit a soothing aroma. When you are relaxed, you can then indulge in the delicious dinner offered at the Homestay. In the evening, you can witness the local worship if so wish.
Day 02: Full day out in Ky Son village
Take in a deep breath as you enjoy the clean atmosphere while joining in the Yijinjing traditional exercise. After breakfast, embark on an adventure down the ritual paths through Thang Thac Village with a guide to explore Ngo Quyen Tomb, Phung Hung Temple, Duong Lam Ancient Village, and Mia Pagoda. Lunch is served at a local house.
After lunch, enjoy having your fingers dipped in a fragrant lime bowl for the traditional herbal hand massage. Then you have free time for relaxing or interacting with members of the family to share the culture and learn about the manners and customs of Vietnam, especially traditional marriage. If you want to learn some Vietnamese, one of the family members will be delighted to teach you.
In the afternoon, we take a leisurely bike ride in the villages of Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh and Cham farming communities, where you will get to experience the local life and learn about agricultural activities. You can stop at any house for a cup of tea while having a conversation with the locals about their daily life. If you want to have a better understanding of the daily life of a farmer, you can participate in agricultural activities such as plowing or making rice beds, transplanting seedlings, harvesting rice (or cassava, corn, sweet potatoes…) depending on the harvest season. You will also get to collect tea and fragrant medicinal herbs necessary for your foot “spa” in the evening.
Return to the Moon Garden in the late afternoon where you have free time to relax or explore on your own before your delicious evening meal. To complete a perfect day, indulge in a relaxing footbath in warm water with ginger, salt and mugwort medicinal herbs. Retire in your own time for a deep and refreshing sleep.
Day 03: Ky Son Moon Garden Homestay– Departure
Take in a moment of silence while joining in with the praying to Buddha (this praying style would be considered as exercises). After breakfast, participate in the ancient custom of burning votive money and gold for the deceased ancestors of Viet Nam.
You are then free to relax at the Homestay or go exploring on your own. You can go fishing or just stroll around the Village to learn more about this great area. You can also pay a visit to the kindergarten (closed on Sat, Sun and Holidays) and go to the market.to get ingredients for the cooking session. Alternatively, you can just rest in one of the hammocks in the garden or walk around and take advantage of the many photo opportunities such as Vietnamese in traditional clothes and the beautiful scenery of the area.
Join us for the cooking class to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine around noon. Lunch will then be served at a local house.
Your trip sadly comes to an end when we transfer you to the airport. From Ky Son to the airport: 45 km if you take the Duong Lam ferry crossing the Red River.
